Re: ICE "evacuating" the Broadview facility I am hearing from some folks that ICE made a similar claim about a facility in Portland (that it was winding down operations) that was basically a fake out, with normal operations resuming there before long, so we are going to have to be vigilant.

After agents push people off the driveway again, an agent with a pepper ball gun appears on the roof of the building. “We’re trying to get you some help, I hope you can hear me,” one protester yells into a bullhorn trying to reach the man inside who was arrested earlier.

Protesters yell at one agent with an American flag mask and sleeves “Nazi” as they push demonstrators off the sidewalk in front of the driveway. “Proud of it,” the agent replied.

The same man who was shoved above was just arrested for blocking a vehicle in the driveway. “We’ll get you next,” one agent warns other protesters as the gate closes.

Prior to, the agents were threatening arrest for those who try to stop vehicles. More just stepped out to threaten to arrest protesters sitting on the building’s steps. Protesters are back to dancing and holding signs, all agents have gone back inside.

Protesters briefly stop a vehicle and make it turn around, agents step out and fire a pepper balls while another shoved them from in front of the vehicle.

The scene at Broadview today is calm, no sights of federal agents other than the occasional car going in the front gate. A UHaul truck was backed into the side garage earlier. About a dozen protesters are holding signs, dancing to Mexican music and yelling “shame” when agents enter/exit.

The last three events I’ve spoken at have been completely sold out. And it’s not because of my speaking skills. It’s because people are pissed. That energy is palpable everywhere I go.
