After three weeks in the prototyping oven, we've launched Dressmaker on itch! This is the most excited about a game that I've made that I've ever been and I don't think I've ever wanted a prototype to be a full game this much. I just hope enough of the rest of the world agrees. 😅

It blew up on short video social media, so we've been working on it full time for the past week to take it from a toy into being a game. Y'know, the other 90%. 🫣

I've been trialing a paid search engine. Their "small web" tab is like browsing the old internet. Blog post after blog post of passionate people writing about their interests for the sake of it, not fluff and clickbait for ad revenue. I'm so tired of having to filter out so much noise.

The number of times I type out a reply just to delete it because I don't actually want to spend time arguing with people (even people I know and like) on the internet anymore... I don't know if I've learnt from my teenage years, or if I just don't have the energy. 😅

I just finished this and it was a really good time. It's shortish but focused and has lots of personality. Felt a bit bad about plucking bugs from their habitats and making them fight each other, but it also made me more interested in bugs, so... 😅

I don't know how anyone gets it in their mind that writing a GDD is a good thing to do when making something for a game jam. I think of game jams as being spaces for exploration, experimentation, and raw creativity. GDDs lock you into decisions that you haven't even tested.
