Papers live or die for me in the Intro (& Methods) section. e.g.: We tested the idea that A affects B. (ok) As a measure of B we recorded X and calculated Y. (??) To manipulate A we did Z. (??) So often I don’t believe the Y~B and/or Z~A logical connections. #neuroskyence #academicsky #psychscisky

CIHR has launched a trial ballon that suggests shifting to one competition a year. This is the worst idea I have heard in a long time. The only benefit is making top-line success rates look better than they are. Keep it as is, do in-person reviews, and keep the pain in the open.

This is working out very well so far. Not missing any of it.

Turns out time blocking didn’t work for me. I hate looking at a calendar full of blocks. Even if I colour coded them “my time” vs other types of blocks, I couldn’t stand looking at it. I want to see blank space. New system: just try to remember never to book meetings during certain days/times.
