A new paper on guinea fowl gait biomechanics for National Biomechanics Day! How do bipedal animals adjust movement to avoid falls in slippery terrain? We found that guinea fowl slow down, take shorter steps and adjust posture to reduce fall risk in slippery terrain, just like humans. 1/3

I gave my grad class a sermon week 1 about how they could use AI & get 100% & never come to class, but what’s the point? Result: by week 13 only 6 of 26 students are still coming to class (but all are submitting perfect homeworks). Many thoughts, none good

I think the reason AI propagandists are so flustered by the fact that no real writer wants to use their idiotic tools is that they themselves don't enjoy writing. They see it as a boring arduous chore to be avoided, while real writers actually enjoy writing and actually care about the quality of it.

How similar are two activity patterns? We all know that low correlations don't mean that they are necessarily dissimilar – our measurements could be noisy. So how do you correct for this? Our slightly nerdy, but hopefully useful preprint takes a deep dive:

For nearly two decades resting-state fMRI has ruled supreme. And resting-state is suprisingly powerful. But we can do so much better by using broad batteries of tasks with the right design. Here a double-punch delivered by two papers from

Check out our new preprint! We directly tested a common assumption in neuroimaging: Is resting-state the best estimate of intrinsic organization? Spoiler: Across datasets and brain systems, multi-task fMRI did better. 👇
