This Government once vowed to be “the most nature-positive [we have] ever had”. Months of blaming wildlife and stripping back protections have already made a mockery of that promise. And if the rumoured cuts to BNG go ahead, it will deal yet another devastating blow to nature.

Late stroll. A stream of evening sun flows languidly down the road. Drama on a lamppost: two pigeons talk, then one turns and walks sadly away. Distant horizonclouds are misplaced alps. A shadow jogs flatly along the path. Strewn bikes cheerily await the end of the game.

Yellow rattle and white clover aplenty, for #wildflowerhour. This #Cotswolds wildflower meadow is fairly new - it was sheep-grazed short grass until a couple of years ago.

Another successful garden meadow year. Tip for anyone who hasn’t tried it yet - it’s not enough to just stop mowing! I seeded this with Yellow Rattle a few years ago. It weakens the coarse grasses and gives other plants a chance. Getting there 🙂 #wildflowers #garden
