SANDHILLS POND 06/27/2005 Found this one in the archives. One of many totally gorgeous freshwater ponds found throughout the Nebraska Sandhills. Fish and turtles in the transparent water. Tons of birds. I saw cormorants here. Just outstanding.

South Australia has spent years patiently constructing one of the world's first big 100% clean grids. Its reward? Industries are *flocking* there to take advantage. Peak load is expected to double in coming years. Go green, make green.

I quit Facebook 12-15 years ago. Two weeks ago, however, I joined up again to access certain groups and Marketplace. I haven't even posted anything. Then this morning they disabled my account for violating community standards with no appeal allowed. How utterly bizarre.

There was a time in Merryland when I was young but thought we were old. It was hot, and sticky, white sky like molten wax, the grass so thick and green, the old wooden farmhouse floors too hot to walk on in bare feet, windows all wide open, not a breath of air, and cicadas cranked and buzzed...

Watch this. 19 minutes and $12 to get meds at a public Chinese hospital. Without insurance. As we slash Medicaid to start unnecessary wars and cut taxes for the rich. 🇺🇸 We should all be so much angrier than we are. It doesn’t have to be this way.

'My First Studio.' (1928) Luigi Lucioni's painting style spared him from the contentiousness of Modernist circles; while he respected the artistic trends of the period he looked beyond what was in-vogue in favour of technical skill.

Found this somewhere. Pretty cool. "A person who is really functioning completely is basically a person who trusts his own brains and permits his brain to operate at a more optimal level. In other words, he knows how to think things out, but he makes his best discoveries without thinking."

On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, a total lunar eclipse—a Blood Moon—will sweep across North America. Totality begins at 6:04 AM ET. While western states will see the full show, the East Coast will witness a rare Selenelion: the eclipsed Moon setting while the Sun rises simultaneously.

This is so important. I blocked someone this morning. I don't like to block, but he was so angry. He was lashing out. We are all hurting now. Find a positive way to deal with it. Volunteer at your local food pantry or animal shelter. Protest. Write your congresscritters. Don't just be angry.
