Last week in the Calders garden we got the tool washing sink functional again 👍 potting bench almost done.

This is why the regular engine idling from drivers at school pick up and drop off should not be happening. You might be keeping warm, but at what cost to all the other children who get the pleasure of breathing it in as they walk to school. Especially bad for young lungs. Please don't do it. 🙏

We'll have some of that action. Kingsknowe Road North is appallingly narrow in sections. Very busy road, key route to local shops, schools, church, & park. Can't walk side by side with children, pets and that's before you factor in poorly maintained hedges.

We got a response from Dave, director of the Redpath & McLean car dealership on Longstone Rd after residents had contacted us about being blinded by the new lights, particularly turning into Redhall Avenue. Others were concerned how much of the Water of Leith was being lit up at night.

Works progressing on the pedestrian improvements on Kingsknowe Road North. Raised table and build out to come from other side now. This will slow drivers speeds and make it safer to cross from these very narrow pavements on a key route to school and a local park. @livingstreetsedi.bsky.social

All the marked up sections of carriageway around the top end of Redhall Drive will be patched properly while the schools are off for February week. Line marking also. This is the section where the schools 'bikeability' training takes place.

Surprising no one, before year end, the installation of the controlled crossing on Lanark Rd got pushed out to September 26. 😩

This is a good start on Kingsknowe Road North. Proper traffic calming measure. These busy pavements are barely a metre wide on this key route to school, local services, and buses. Much more to be done.

Works expected to commence on 2/2/26 on Kingsknowe Rd North between Longstone Pl & Redhall Rd. Expected to last 12 days and will include full closure of the road for approx 3 days. First in a series of improvements on key routes to school to improve safety for residents and their children.

Lots of fun with Wester Hailes High School students this afternoon. Together we gritted the greenway path and bridge over the canal to make it safer for the older folks getting to Michael’s and the bus stops. Also for the Canal View pupils.

Good to be back with the hardy troops at the Greenway garden this morning. Tidying the sheds, the garden, and we gritted the local paths near the garden and Michael’s shop.
