Our culture has such a reliance on art, mixed with so much disdain for artists' lives. Someone throws soup at a painting in a gallery or whatever and everyone acts like it's a literal murder, but that level of sympathy is for the object, almost never for the living conditions of artists.

Recently, a significant factor in my motivation to sketch here and there are the rise of AI "artists." Esp here in the furry fandom. In my eyes, anyone who attempts to actually draw, no matter the quality, is 100% better than anyone who generates stolen art to pass off as as their own.
