“Grace perfects nature” is not in itself a politics — I’m sorry John Milbank — and the two stances (integralist, Balthasarian) deploy the theological claim in different directions. Which unfortunately means that being good at the distinction (nature/grace) doesn’t decide if you’ve got good politics.

But where Catholic integralists use these distinctions to argue for nature’s necessary obedience to the (supernatural) Church, Balthasar inverts the relationship, so that Christian obedience has priority (over the secular) and is expressed through expropriation or service of the “least of these.”
