I have always loved public libraries, but having young children has exponentially increased my gratitude and sense of indebtedness to them. Our local library is such a huge part of our lives. The books, the programming, the very intentionally curated kidsā section. Itās all such a gift.

Christmas songs, most people like Santa Claus is Coming to Town or Merry Christmas Baby. But for my money, the best Bruce holiday song is this version of Blue Christmas, performed live at the old Carousel building in Asbury Park. This song needs more love. šøš·š

My younger kid is on the other side of the world & texted this week to tell me theyād heard the Springsteen version of āSanta Claus is Coming to Townā in a cafe. They said āI seemed to be the only one who knew even the spoken intro.ā It felt good that they had that touch of home while far away.

Thanks for this. Iāll never forget how voices fell silent when the (then-Dixie) Chicks spoke out against the Iraq War during the rah-rah leadup. They were blacklisted on radio across the country. No one stood up for them. Except, finally, Bruce Springsteen.
