Probably an unpopular opinion, but I’d love to hear others thoughts. I am not a fan of the song “Springsteen” by Eric Church. I don’t see the song as being *about* Bruce at all. It just lists some of his songs and then he sings “Springsteen.” Ok. I tried to like it, but it does nothing for me.

This article is all over the place in terms of what it’s supposed to be (Bruce’s best? Most popular? Greatest hits? All different things!). Still, this is always a fun exercise. I would replace Dancing, Glory Days and I’m on Fire with Backstreets, Darkness and Racing in the Street. Any others?

This day in #Springsteen history, Bruce wins the “Best Single” award at the 1985 American Music Awards for Dancing in the Dark. He then heads over to A&M Studios in Hollywood where he recorded his powerful vocals for “We are the World.” If you haven’t seen the great Netflix documentary, please do.

What is your favorite officially released Bruce Springsteen video? Mine - Born to Run. I just love the montages of Bruce performances. If somebody said to me “you have 5 minutes to convince me that Bruce is good,” I would just show them this video. If that didn’t work, I’d know they’re hopeless.

#Springsteen Tidbits That rumble of thunder you hear at the beginning of Lost in the Flood was a “cheap effect” created in the studio by Steve Van Zandt, who literally punched the amplifier. It was Steve’s only contribution to the Greetings from Asbury Park album.

There are exceptions, but I’m not usually a big fan of covers of Springsteen songs. If it doesn’t improve on the original, I wonder “what’s the point?” Found this moody version of State Trooper by Queen Kwong and thought it was interesting enough to share. It’s different and kind of mesmerizing.

I don’t want to embarrass anyone publicly, but I just saw someone unironically state that she didn’t know Bruce Springsteen was from New Jersey. 🤔 Maybe I’m in a bubble of my own making, but don’t you have to be living under a rock to NOT know that?

Very true. I don’t claim to fully understand all of Bruce’s songs, I just know how they affect me and sometimes I can’t even explain why.

#Springsteen tidbits… Bruce was the likely inspiration for the chilling scene in Taxi Driver where Robert DeNiro looks in the mirror and repeatedly asks the question, “You looking at me?” DeNiro had watched Bruce do this bit on stage just a few days before he ad-libbed this scene. #filmsky
