I think this really demonstrates that as well as a sensible electoral system we also need 1) truthful sources of information for voters 2) far better democratic education in schools. It isn’t safe having a “democracy” when the majority of people have no idea what is going on or who is benefiting.

If this Bill is going to live up to its name, it must replace the outdated First Past the Post system with a proportional one – where seats in Parliament actually reflect how people vote.

We need massive investment in battery storage and research into green hydrogen so that we can store this renewable energy rather than wasting it. Far more productive use of capital than nuclear or “carbon capture and storage”

This very largely right - First Past the Post forces parties to target swing voters in marginal constituencies rather than their core supporters. For Labour that means that Liverpool & Newcastle & Manchester tend to lose out. A Proportional system would make votes in those places meaningful again.
