Today’s subject in my mechanic’s bay (ok, gravel driveway) was a coolant flush and oil change on the Renault SuperCinq. All went smoothly, so treated myself to some Asian inspired steak for dinner (with Italian wine naturally)

Busy day working on the 500 yesterday, getting the aircon regassed, replacing the coil pack and battery. Ready for its trip to southern Italy next month with @thealso.bsky.social

Also spotted this very smart looking mk4 Golf. They are such classy things still, and hard to believe this one is 26 years old. Shame about the mismatched wheel trims

Been working hard on this variomatic Volvo. Got it taxed as historic, so it can now go on the road when it’s ready. Variomatic vacuum system has been fighting me, but after a lot of diagnosis have identified an incorrect valve. New one on its way. Hopefully that solves it! Carb rebuild next…

Introducing my latest project, abandoned in the work car park because of a blown exhaust, and deemed uneconomical to repair. Said I’d take it on for scrap value, before I even knew exactly what it was (or how bad the paint is!!)

Both of these 3-door city cars were launched in 1991, but the design language is quite different

Spent the day sorting out a minor MOT failure point on the Cinq, before taking it to the garage for its retest. A pass, so back to the barn for the moment. Drove the 106 back home in the glorious sunshine

Successful MOT pass for Britain’s earliest base mk3 Fiesta. Advisory on a lower arm bush, so that’s a job for sometime this year. Now to hit the road for some poverty motoring 😀

Replaced the rear wheel bearings on my mk3 Fiesta yesterday, ready for its MOT this week. But managed to snap my long breaker bar 😢. Sad times

Today’s patient on the driveway is the 500s lower arms. One down, the other will be sorted in the morning.
