E90 suspension overhaul update. All done! Rear now completed with new links as well as springs and Bilstein B6s Took liners out and liberally dosed the area with @BulldogBDX Alphalan Good timing as some surface rust on battery box Full alignment booked for Monday 0900

Now for the nice part of the E90 325i front suspension refresh. Shiny stuff!! My mate Adam has a proper hydraulic spring compressor so swiftly to his this a.m. and now struts are assembled. OSF in place with new arms too A good dose of Alphalan from @BulldogBDX applied

The final fight with the front suspension on the 325i has been won The pinch bolt on R hub that secures the strut would not move. Steel bolt plus alloy hub plus 20 years equals horrible corrosion No room to swing a hammer but room to fire an SDS hammer action drill at it!

E90 suspension refresh update. Well it’s been a fight, as the assorted bits here will testify. 20 years of corrosion on wishbone to hub fixings meant lots of choppy chop with disc-cutter However all ‘bones’ now free at hub so tomorrow will see front end fully disassembled

It’s quite literally been a shit day Anyway the “log jam” is clear and the drains are flowing again I may need a shower 💩

We are presently attending to a broken down Renault 15 in Le Mans Won’t fire up. Seems to smell strongly of fuel so @andyps1275 has gone to get his plug tester No spark. Points closed We opened contact breaker up and Voila. Il marche!! The Entente Cordiale is strong!

Arriving late evening at Catania 2 weeks ago I wasn’t pleased to see this Dacia Sandero. I wanted to dislike this car a lot. But On the cratered Sicilian roads the pliant suspension and 65 profile tyres work very well A/c kept us cool. The 90bhp 3-pot is gruff but (continues)

This morning’s ride back to tbe main island of Sicily

The island of Stromboli only has one street big enough for a car(harbour front) so everyone uses Piaggio Apes and electric golf carts if needing more than a 2-wheeler Even the Carabinieri have the cutest, fully liveried golf-cart, complete with dinky blue light

The 5hr round trek up Stromboli did not disappoint Amazing to be so close to live volcanic activity

40 years ago today this wonderful lady and I were married. It’s had its ups and downs, been fiery, but always when things cooled down, has been solid Which is why it seems a fitting analogy that we spend today trekking up Stromboli, an active volcano! Love you Louise xxx
