During February 2026, Europe yet again saw the growing impacts of climate change. 🌧️ A series of atmospheric rivers, together with a south-shifted jet stream led to heavy-to-extreme precipitation, triggering widespread flooding and landslides, particularly across Iberia and western France. 🌍🧪⚒️

Regarding a recent community science paper on 1.5°C of #globalwarming (doi.org/10.5194/essd...), the graph I like the most shows #seaice extent anomalies for different datasets and reconstructions. The most striking feature is HadISST2 disagreement with Antarctic reconstructions.

As the climate data for 2025 continues to be released, it's time to update various data visualisations. First - the global climate stripes for 1850-2025. A third darkest red stripe is added. The last 11 years have been the warmest 11 years on record. A sequence that is unlikely to be broken soon.
