I’ve lived here for nearly two decades and I’ve never seen it this bad before.

Crazy, unprecedented March heat today in the western United States with dozens of locations setting all-time March highs. The high of 90 in San Francisco is bonkers. Highest national temperatures up to 112 in Arizona and California, the highest ever observed in the month.

Honestly, this historic heat dome across the West is really hard to put into words for me. Temperatures over 110°F (43°C) in March, shattering all-time monthly records on multiple consecutive days, and not just by a little. ➡️ I can confirm this is human-caused climate change. polarwx.com/models/

Beating a 90 year temperature record by 0.28°C is impressive. Beating it by 2.8°C is scary.

Sea ice is a record low for this time of year in the #Arctic (see zacklabe.com/arctic-sea-i...). One of the drivers of this is related to an extreme event ongoing in the Sea of Okhotsk, where current conditions are not even close to any other year in our satellite record (similar to May). Yikes! 🌊

The current heatwave in the US Southwest is utterly destroying many records for this time of year. Phoenix, Arizona has ~90 years of daily temperature data, and yet recent temperatures beat the previous March record by 5 °F (2.8 °C), and would actually tie the record for April.

Climate change is a real threat to us all. But going towards green technology doesn't just help our planet, it lowers our bills, and protects us from geopolitical shocks like the Iran war. Britain has the potential to lead the green revolution creating investment and jobs across the country.
