Grammar writing is really teaching me that I am NOT a book person. Writing papers, if I can’t fit something, it just goes in the next article. If I can’t fit something in the ref grammar, it’s probably not getting written up ever. Can’t handle that one bit!

Another glimpse into the hostile environment future: My US -> UK immigration papers cost ~$8,500 without any legal fees. AFAIK, the equivalent visa UK -> US (H1B) is currently ~$1,000. Amazingly, this country also has much less growth and innovation than the USA 🤔

My DEL-DLI award #linguistics has now been terminated as part of the DOGEing of NEH. I'm a little surprised by this because the funding is part NSF 🧪, but the award was administered by NEH. No award- or program-specific info in the letter. They are not even trying to pretend it's legal.

There have been a lot of them lately, but honestly, what an unpleasant day to be an American abroad.
