@darraghobrientd.bsky.social must reverse this decision without delay. 40% of all deaths and serious injuries on Irish roads are of people walking or cycling - if the government is serious about making our roads safer they need to show it by implementing the default limit.

Remember, whenever you hear that “speed wasn’t a factor” in a deadly crash, what they mean is that the car involved wasn’t technically speeding. At least “not by much.” It presumes that the speed limit wasn’t too high to begin with. When it comes to death from collisions, SPEED IS ALWAYS a factor.

The are a large number of vacancies. Maybe hire civilians to do some of the work. I know many people who cycle who would be eager to be involved in sorting out the mess on our roads.

Not a shocking report, it's something many already know if they've reported dangerous behaviour on our roads.

Poor behaviour from road users stems from the complete absence of high-quality active transport infrastructure. The solution isn’t to antagonise or divide road users with terrible social media campaigns, but to build world-class active transport networks. This piece is well worth a read!

Spot on! Education has a role to play but the key to making our streets safer and more enjoyable for everyone is better active transport infrastructure. That is what DCC should be focusing on, not provocative social media campaigns that simply fuel more conflict.
