This is absolutely appalling. "The UK will not contribute to a flagship fund for the world’s remaining tropical forests, in a bitter blow to the Brazilian hosts on the eve of the Cop30 climate summit." Absolutely pathetic.

John Major tells Tories alliance with Reform would be ‘beyond stupid’
Former PM says a pact would destroy the Conservatives for good and urges them not to desert centre ground John Major has told the Conservatives that forming an alliance with Reform UK would “forever destroy” the party, which he said had already left traditional supporters “politically homeless” by lurching too far to the right. The former prime minister dismissed a pact with Nigel Farage’s party as “beyond stupid”, saying that any Tories tempted to defect to Reform should go now because his own party would be better off without them. Just been reading about the Pakistani mill-workers in Bradford who were hired right off the bus to work 12-hour shifts and then 20, 30 years later were the first to be made redundant when the industry hit the wall. Many - having few other skills - were on the dole for the rest of their lives.

Nigel Farage could never be trusted to run Britain after getting Brexit so wrong'. Brexit is the biggest self-harm. UK economy hasn't recovered. Farage, the part-time MP, collects millions from 2nd/3rd jobs, full time MP pay+exps; often missing from the Commons. Pushes hatred to grab power.

I spent the afternoon in the woods, in a haze of peace and loveliness. Then came home and heard on the news an Irish doctor working in Gaza describe the clearly systematic, mass targeting of Palestinian children by Israeli snipers. It's just crazy making. How can such pure evil exist in the world?

In case you missed it: lots of amazing and heartening pond restoration going on. Research is likely to confirm that seeds "lost" in the bottom of filled-in ponds can remain viable for 100s of years so ponds and their aquatic plants leap back to life.
