My Halloween topper is ready to go. I had to get it done early because I’m so busy in October with Big Monster Bake events! I’ve got lots of school, bookshop and library events so hope to see some of you at one of them 🎃

I’m very lucky because someone gifted me this… I think it’s from the 1960s (like me 😆). Everything worked the first time I turned it on! What household appliance are you still using from the 1960s or before?

The Thursday Murder Club was fun but THESE are the books I really want to see on screen! Great heroine, tight plots, fresh setting! I love this series by

and can totally imagine them on the big or small screen!

A lot of people have asked for recs of things to read after Loki, and after much whittling and pondering I have a wee poster for you. Things that Loki readers might like with the aspects of Loki that those books capture!

Really proud of our homage to halloween treats! Come on down to Monster Street this howling Halloween! Out on Thurs from wherever you buy your books by me and Eve O’Brien. It’s worth it for the spiced hot chocolate recipe alone 😋

I love indie bookshops (waving at you
@fourbearsbooks.bsky.social
and numerous other lovely establishments) but there are just one or two who are very sniffy. I won’t name names but it costs nothing to be nice to a jobbing author who is actually trying to help you sell some books

Been awake most of the night trying to redesign the bra. Hubby claims I seem to have more of an issue with conventional bras than most but I think many women long for something better. We are an oppressed mass, much like our boobs.

Sometimes I’m asked ‘why do you care?’ ‘Swifts are one of the oldest species on earth. They spend more time airborne than any other bird yet when they come home they come home to us. They’re on the brink. They just need a brick with a hole in it.’

All great books but I think this list says a lot about how children are not necessarily being exposed to fabulous new books (with the exception of Bluey which doesn’t count as it’s a cartoon).

Saw a lovely patient today who had been sold a hearing aid for an ear with normal hearing. Absolutely no excuse. She was told that she needed to have two to ‘even things up’. Shameless incompetence. Her son is a lawyer so I hope she sues.
