I wish he would do more comedy, I think he's quite good at it. I really liked him in The French Dispatch (although his character came to a bad end, his bit was pretty whimsical and weird), and his periodic cameos on SNL when he just goofs off are golden.

I dont know why but this made me think of that movie Argylle which is just awful primarily because of its refusal to use real animals or real scenery/background and like this is such a good scene? Cheesy, sure but good! Theres nothing that comes close to this in Argylle.

Rob Reiner, despite the fact that alot of his filmography was too clean, too neat, not mean enough for my tastes, I dont know too many folks I could even mouth understood the rhythms and movements of pop cinema like Reiner..this skill and the level of that skill made many of his films undeniable..

Also a winner from that movie! His character is one dimensional, but hes so good he puts rhe dimensions in there, the best line readings in the movie belong to Dinklage.

Watched Roofman (which I had no clue was a Cianfrance film ..nice to see him back) and through Im not altogether sold on the overall product, (good, not great) the central performances by Tatum (Career best imo) and Dunst (just another day at the office) are easily amongst my best of the year...

RIP to Rob Reiner and his wife. Reiner was one of the masters of the crowd pleaser, crafting the kind of films that are somehow both rare to see in contemporary cinemas and yet endlessly copied. This is such a brutal and tragic loss.

I agree with you on film tho they deserve BOTH. Some of their work is on top shows; I don’t see TV as “below” film in the ‘prestige’ age. SKB is lead on Paradise with a strong first season and Emmy nom. Nicole Beharie does brilliant work on The Morning Show. Yahya Mateen was a genius on Watchmen.
