Some autistics may appear to ‘overreact’ to ‘small’ things, but often such things are not small to us. For example, sensory overload can be very distressing, and it can be extremely unsettling when a beloved food/product is out of stock if it brings much-needed familiarity and comfort.

“We’re all a little autistic” Okay then everybody hand over the emergency headphones and routines where you simply can't do anything else because you'd have a meltdown.

Me being autistic could mean I have all these tasks to do and make all these lists and do them all in a certain order because thats how I just have to. On another day it is not physically being able to do any of this. How was I able to do all that on that day and then another day I just can't.

Being autistic is asking a clarifying question and being told you’re just looking for an argument.

Being autistic means you will be called secretive or got something to hide because you're private and won't say things unless asked directly. Even when you do answer a question with a yes, you'll still be called secretive because you didn't go into anymore details than the question asked.

The autistic experience of being told oh you're autistic after saying a fact/stat. Why feel the need to point that out, if I say then that opens the door but don't just say that. It's just not a reassuring response to say to someone, well not to me anyway.

I don't like eating late at night if I can help it. I need at least 4 hours before I go to bed with my tummy to settle. I hate the feeling of lying down and going to sleep on a full tummy. I can't even say if this is an autistic thing or not or is it just a me thing.

Disabled introverts who vibe-schedule their lives as they go (depending on what their bodies can handle) should not be forced into vacation-planning with people who schedule every aspect of their days the moment they pick a day 4 months in advance.

I was diagnosed high functioning autistic. It's just high masking. Once more was understood (I was diagnosed in the 90's) I realized just how much being autistic has impacted my life. I'm not "Quirky". I am autistic.

I thought I was autistic. I was wrong. I actually had Super Autism after being bitten by a radioactive autist.

I'm autistic, I was one of those kids. You just didn't call it autism. You called it weird. You called it the R or S word. You called it shy, dramatic, awkward, or rude. You bullied us. You punished us. You told us to try harder. We were always here. You just didn't know what we were.

Being autistic means I'm constantly thinking about what to say to others. Talking just doesn't come naturally to me. Why don't others do this ? Why does it feel like only me is doing this ? What is the solution to stop doing this ? All these questions and more pop up in my head on a daily.

Autistic life for me is feeling like everyone secretly hates me. I hate this and always feel like I make a fool out of myself in most social situations. I leave them, will over think on them for hours and it feels like the person has judged me, and a doesn't like me and just secretly hates me.

Autistic me does understand details. Maybe just maybe you’re not explaining the details very well.
