Autistic me loves my space of my own space.

I’m telling you now, every single human that was diagnosed autistic displayed symptoms of autism in their childhood. They were just ignored or laughed at.

Being autistic means It’s hard for me to transition into the routine sometimes, but once I do the first step it’s easy and necessary to complete the steps. Not sure how often this is talked about on here but I thought I'd mention that. Next to impossible for me to hurry by skipping steps though.

Autistic me was once told at a family event, have a great day. So I went home.

Being autistic and curious about how I can enter a conversation at the right time. I have the answer to this. I don't.

Autistic life for me is doing something somebody told me to do and then getting told that's wrong. So I'm left completely confused as to why I was asked in the first place.

Being autistic can mean one of two things when it comes to food. I'm a ok I can mix my foods on a plate autistic. For others it can mean I just cant do that. The thought of it makes me feel sick and panicky autistic. Just because of how it is with someone, doesn't mean that's how it is for all.

One of the things that I struggle with as an autistic person is needing to know why something is the way it is. This is then followed by struggling to just accept it or move on from that when I don't have a proper answer to that. I just don't get why it's such a bother to provide an explanation.

Autistic me has been baffled to discover how much of the world functions only because a large majority of people comply without needing to understand what they are doing or why.

Autistic life for me is having a rather large list of games that I have every intention of wanting to play but never actually play. The idea of building up more is nice though.

Something I struggle to learn as an autistic person: Stop trying to make things better because everytime you do it's going to come back to bite you. Be like everyone else who just does nothing and has everything work out. Life will be less infuriating that way. I have witnesses to my bad luck -_-;

I don't know how it is in other countries but here in the UK generally we are taught at a young age to ”not talk to strangers“ but.. When halloween comes around parents will usually be OK with children knocking on ”strangers doors“ and pretty much asking for treats. The mind boggles with this one.

Autism for me is cleaning out my junk drawer in the kitchen and sorting all the loose bits for fun. My life is so fun at times.

One of my traits of being autistic is loving my hobbies so much so that I get really invested in them. It’s okay to have any hobby that doesn’t hurt anyone (or thing else) and brings you joy. Period. This does include hobbies that are labelled as just for children by others.

Autistic me follows directions precisely. The problem with this is that most directions are far from precise.

School for NDs is also the teacher explained this to you a number of times.. why don't you learn.. why are you misbehaving, don't you want to learn?! I didn't understand any other ways you told me meant I'm misbehaving and don't want to learn. Thanks school teachers of the early 00s.. thanks alot.

Being autistic in life that's not designed for us can be tough. You will see things and do things others don't do and be questioned more often than not about why are you doing this or why are you like that. It doesn't matter how many years go by, always be someone that don't like you for you.

“Why didn’t you say something?” Autistic me: Because last time saying something got me labeled as dramatic and being extremely difficult. But sure let's try this again.

When autistic people ask a lot of questions, it might come across as argumentative or even rude, but in reality it’s how many of us process and understand information. We’re often not trying to challenge you, we’re trying to understand the logic behind something so it makes sense in our brain.

Autistic life for me is being that hyperfixated on my interests that I struggle to have time for anybody else. Apart from on here of course. Not that I'd want to do the whole small talk thing with people in real life anyway. What's the point of that when there's no structure to the conversation.

Being autistic is channelling your energy into something you feel extremely passionate about. Yes you could be doing some serious house chores that are badly in need of being done but doing this for hours on end where you lose track of time just feels far more important, at least in my head anyway.

Autistic burnout is literally my body and brain shutting down in unexplainable ways. People will say relax but the thing that helps me is allowing myself to cry and feel everything I’m feeling so I'm familiar with the feeling in case it shows up again and i’ll know how to cope, not fix, just cope.

How can autistic adults thrive in life? This should be at the heart of autism researchers, not what causes autism. But instead.. 2025.. and I still keep seeing all the same things that's labeled as negative or a barrier from these researchers, that is disappointing to say the least. Come on now.

Some individuals out there will tell you autism isn't real and that autism doesn't exist. Says the person who's dad gets very anxious about social situations. is blunt, or is just not interested in others without meaning to. Along with taking things literally and getting very anxious if it changes.

Autistic burnout isn’t a nap. It’s watching your life collapse while people ask if you’ve tried yoga. Not just fatigue ethier. The body hits limit after years of pretending everything’s ok. You don’t recover by “resting more,” you recover by rebuilding safety. That’s the part no one talks about.

Being autistic and sending a text message and not knowing when you'll get a response just hits differently when you're autistic. Why ? It just does.

The autistic experience of being misperceived as complaining when all you’ve done is just describing something you’ve experienced. How else am I going to accurately describe something that has happened in a way that’s not complaining if my emotion free descriptions look like complaining.

Being autistic is being told why didn’t you ask for help. Because asking required social scripting, shame buffering, tone analysis, and a risk assessment.

Autistic life is apparently sticking out like a sore thumb when in reality you just can't be like someone else. You did try that one though, for months or years infact. Look where that got you.

Being described as unpredicatable because you're autistic comes across as like you're arming up for a formal logic slanging match with members of the public.

You're just waiting and hoping for the opportunity to pick at what the person is saying by asking questions just to get to the real facts. Being autistic can be so frustrating at times, and here's just one reason why. Sometimes you can't just "do that" Even if you were to "do that" before or yesterday, it makes no difference. Being told well you did that before or yesterday don't help ethier. Sometimes you simply can't do that.

When you're reading that someone saying this causes autism or that causes autism its important to know this. The person in question doesn't know what they're talking about.
