The last time researchers looked at this, the bird population had fallen by 29%. Now it’s worse.

The number of birds in the US and Canada has fallen by 2.9 billion, or 29 percent, since 1970. Forest-dwelling birds are doing OK. The big losses correlated with hot places: Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Arizona.
