In October, I submitted my lab’s first R01. It took some time build up to what I (still) think/hope is a strong application. It was supposed to be reviewed today. Yet - like so many others - my study section was rescheduled. I am sad not just for our lab, but also the entire scientific community. 🖤

This is incredibly upsetting. While the effects of these cancellations are clear to academics, we need to ensure that the wider public is not only aware of what's happening, but also understands how much damage this will cause to health and medical infrastructure, tech innovation, and higher ed.

Yeah I know people say anxiety is bad, but mine has just been collecting all the possible things that can go wrong so far. Once it has an exhaustive catalog of every possible mishap, it’ll move on to suggesting solutions and then you better watch out.
