Terrifying to see One Nation look like winning four lower house seats in SA. All regional areas - SA don’t have Nationals so they were formally Liberal seats but National equivalents. How long before the four new One Nation MPs fall out with Hanson and become independents? I give it a year.

One Nation has won its first lower house seat in an election outside of Queensland. The Liberal Party recommended prefs to One Nation over Labor in Ngadjuri and has fallen to third place, so David Paton will maintain his lead and is set to enter South Australia’s parliament.

Never thought I would see the demise of the Oz Liberal party in my life time. The days of Menzies, Fraser and Howard have always been romanticised by their voters . In reality it was always about preservation of wealth for the rich, keeping wages low and not addressing structural inequalities

or, tell them to strike for fair pay / compensation from their oligarch owners

I call them “No Nation” because they are trawling the world for far right support, far right narratives and far right conspiracy campaigns. It’s a hodge podge of MAGA madness, Orbanian awfulness & Brexit bullshit that makes grievance grifters wealthy & fail sons feel justified. Nothing Australian.

I spent all day yesterday on a booth in Kavel - a rural seat in the Adelaide Hills. It is really eerie to see how high the One Nation vote was because at my booth, despite there not being a single volunteer, sign or HTV for One Nation, a quarter of the voters voted that way. They did it quietly!

There is a huge amount of money coming to one nation thanks to public electoral funding. More than enough money to argue about. Everywhere that one Nation achieved at least 4% of the vote, they will receive over five dollars per vote. I don’t think people realise this.
