Part of this is the goal of the anti trans movement. It's set up this way to isolate trans people as a community. To leave us without visible and vocal allies because they've made the calculation that speaking up is simply too costly.

Ordinary actions that in any other context would receive absolutely no scrutiny suddenly become a massive manufactured scandal simply because it involves trans people. With the anti trans side, you always have to be on top of everything or they will destroy you.

The only mistake I think Amnesty made, which I've seen other allies and orgs make as well, is underestimating the level of hatred and organization of the anti trans side. Cis people really don't understand just how bad it is and are often caught unprepared for the attacks when they become the target
