This holiday season, I told myself I'd clean up the few hundred bookmarks I have in Chrome. But the Chrome bookmark manager felt too slow for me. There are just too many clicks involved to edit, delete, etc. So I built myself an extension that allowed me to do it much faster.

I think that in the coming future, tools and platforms that are extensible through code will be at even a bigger advantage over those that aren't. With the help of LLMs, customizing them takes significantly less effort, especially for non-developers.

DeepSeek is a good example of how great engineering can sometimes happen because of constraints. In DeepSeek's case, one big constraint was access to computing power (chips). Yet the result is a very efficient model.

For a long time, I thought the emoji search on iPhones was broken. Whatever I typed in didn't return the correct results. Today, I realized the search is actually localized. Even though the phone's interface is in English, the search expects inputs in my local language (Croatian). 🤷

I've seen so many situations recently with new SaaS products where their user onboarding is just broken. For example, my password is not complex enough and I have to guess the password requirements, or the OAuth flow simply doesn’t work. Sorry, but you've already lost me as a customer at that point.
