Another day of brilliant creations using loose parts with the Thursday group at Nethermains Primary school. Lots of imagination and problem solving involved, we even had a pirate today!

Today at Nethermains Primary using blocks from pallets, wooden disks, pens, wool & nails we made characters & patterns. Everyone made their own designs & shared ideas with others. Lots of imagination, planning and problem solving for a Tuesday afternoon!

This afternoons group from Nethermains Primary worked very hard to finish off their Elder People & repurpose cardboard tubes to make rain makers. They showed lots of problem solving, hand eye coordination, fine & gross motor skills & teamwork. What a wonderfully relaxing sound the rainmakers made.

Did you know horse chestnut trees communicate with bees? The flowers begin white or pinkish-white with a yellow centre but once pollinated, the centre turns pink. This signals to pollinators that the flower has already been visited and is unlikely to offer nectar or pollen.

Yesterday at Beancross lots of balancing, swinging, bouncing & pretending to be a sloth using the hammock! After burning off all that energy we finished the session making rain makers, very patiently hammering in lots of nails before adding the rice and sealing the tubes. @beancross.bsky.social

Today we learned that if we look really closely at an #invertebrate, we may be able to spot signs that help us tell them apart. Do you know how to tell an #insect from an #arachnid? Can you name a #crustacean you can find in the woods? Which garden #molluscs only have 1 foot? #minibeast

What a fantastic job this group from Avonbridge and Drumbowie did of building a zoo on Tuesday! We thought about what kind of habitat each animal would need and then used a mix of materials to build enclosures, shops, signs and pathways. Great creativity and concentration.
