Thanks to M from Denny High. Here she is helping the Suns with their reading books and common words this week. As a former pupil at Anto, it is great to have her back. She comes every Monday and Tuesday to support the p1s in their learning. What a great job she does.

This week we learned the h sound and practised making tens and ones numbers using numicon. We have loved the junk modelling this week. Our little minds have created some wonderful items from junk! Please hand in any junk to p1.

Junk modelling was a hit today in our play. We created binoculars, boats, behives, helmets and so much more. Please bring in boxes and materials if you recycle to help us make more 🙏 we even learned how to use the tape! Hahah

It's Book Week Scotland and P1s have been exploring the Supertato themed texts this week. We used vegetables to make our own Supertato and some of us tried an Evil Pea too in our play. @antomrscasey.bsky.social

We have been loving our new reading books...The Mr Big stories. We are working hard this week, as we read, to track each of the words with our finger.

We loved the wee Alphablocks today. We ordered them alphabetically then some of us tried making 3 letter cvc words with them. Wow!

Some delighted wee faces this morning as we practised lots of different counting and ordering skills in Numeracy. The children enjoyed showing me what they can do!

Tunnel tig, Remembrance poppies with doh and some lovely leaf printing was some of our play this week. The Moons enjoyed their new Mr Big book with me this week and shared their word wall words too.

We had so much fun learning about all the features of the Chatterpix app today! We created our own talking pictures by taking photos of book characters and toys from our class. Ask us about this at home-it really made us giggle!🤭😂📸

A lovely Forest Thursday this week as we enjoyed “The Leaf Man” story and then went exploring in the fairy garden to collect the perfect leaves to make our own characters for the story! Super listening skills, teamwork and creativity! Well done P1!🤩

Counting teen numbers using score and counting, common word writing and reading, and the moons group enjoying their guided reading time. The children also enjoyed a game of rhyming bats 👏 they were fab. Ask them some rhyming words at home!

What a fantastic time we had with Under the Trees! We went exploring in the woods, following a trail just like Rowan in the story we shared. Then we made some conker comets and had soooo much fun launching them in the playground! We could have done this all day!🤩 @uttoutdoorlearning.bsky.social

The STEM ambassadors from DHS came today to teach p1s all about the number 13. They were brilliant 👏 The children really enjoyed learning about tens and ones numbers in different ways.

Kim came today from Childsmile with Chompers and his puppet friends. They all taught us how to brush teeth properly. We had great fun meeting all the characters and learning more about healthy teeth! @antorightsps.bsky.social

Today, we learned about healthy teeth and unhealthy teeth. We started to use our school toothbrushes after lunch and demonstrated how to clean our teeth properly. We used peg cards to identify what foods could be a good or poor choice for our teeth! @antorightsps.bsky.social

Lots of fun this afternoon at our dojo celebration! We relaxed with friends, watched a movie, enjoyed a sweet treat and juice, and the best part? Wearing our pjs!🤣 Wishing all of our wonderful children and families a fantastic break! 😊

Thanks to your donations we were able to create a bottle bug hotel in our playground! Mr Millar safely fixed it to our fence and we spent Forest Thursday filling it with natural materials that the bugs might like! We then enjoyed some risky play; building our confidence, patience and resilience!💛

Such engaged learners! We loved painting autumn trees, working on playdough letters, identifying 3D shapes, sorting sound cards, building Lego and even exploring “pumpkin soup” in our play today! We even got an impromptu puppet show from some P7s who were busy in the library!🤩

Box Zoos, sandcastles, badgers and nocturnal animals, and car ramps. Just some of the fun we had today as we created in our play.

The most fantastic morning with @uttoutdoorlearning.bsky.social ! We listened to Spinderella then made our own conker spiders using conker clamps and palm drills! We then built habitats for some furry creatures and could present our creations to friends! So many incredible skills being developed!👏🏻

What a busy day! Roll-a-sound letter practise, 3d shape sorting, Hungry Caterpillar Lego challenge and headband craft, identifying cones and spheres and our first Talk for Writing story map attempt which was A-MA-ZING!!! Some of us even shared our maps with the P7 buddies! Such confident learners!🌟

Great fun at our Technology group for Leading the Learning today! We loved participating in a build challenge with our P2 friends. We had to use trial and error and then test our creations to see if they met our criteria. Great job everyone! @antomissdouglas.bsky.social

In Leading the Learning this week, we were inspired by the artist Banksy. We tried some of his coloured rain art and discussed why he is a secret artist! How cool. Who IS Banksy? #banksy

We used the smart board today to work out the missing numbers and play learning games. We have enjoyed a range of activities this week in Rainbow Play!

We practised the 6 common words we already know and then enjoyed trying some of our new Rainbow Play tasks. Ask us about this at home! In the afternoon, we tried lots of different harvest fruits and vegetables and could talk about how they tasted and how they were picked or harvested.

We are collecting for Harvest and our local ROOTS group. Help us to try and reach 200 items in our wheelbarrow!

We learnt the Caterpillar C and Kicking K sounds today. In the afternoon, we discussed which foods are picked and used k In a Harvest and made our own combine harvesters.

We used shape frames to help us identify 2D shapes in our environment today during Forest Thursday. We also enjoyed drawing 2D shapes with chalk. We turned these into all kinds of interesting pictures, adding details and discussing the shapes as we drew. Fabulous work! @mathsweek.scot

We loved the Numberblobs today to count using our 10 frames. We also practised ordering numbers to 10 and made some numicon books for @mathsweek.scot.

Today in Numeracy, we played lots of counting to 10 games then we added the correct number of leaves onto the numbered Autumn trees ourselves. We are getting great at 121 counting to 10! Some of us tried using numicon to also find bonds to 10.

The children decided to make some leaf crowns this morning. Then, these crowns quickly moved to leaf monster truck crowns! Craft, counting, and interests all in 1.

Check our hedgehogs! We collected these leaves at our last Forest Thursday and used them today to create our autumn hedgehogs. We are learning about the 4 seasons and what might grow or change in each season. We noticed how all the leaves, trees and weather changes!

Its @mathsweek.scot this week. We played lots of class subitising and counting games today whilst also learning about the number 9. We enjoyed the subitising puzzles 😊

Leaf rubbing and doh hedgehogs or conkers were a favourite make in our play today. Some children even added spikes! We learned today about why some animals in our local area need to hibernate.

Lots of opportunities for exploring 3D shapes on Friday! We are beginning to look at shape properties; their faces, edges, corners and can they stack or roll! We also learnt how to accept an airdropped photo on the iPads to colour using markup. Fabulous work P1!😊

A busy show and tell on Friday with super information about favourite toys, pets, experiences and holidays. Well done everyone!🌟

Teamwork makes the dream work in P1! Just look at these responsible learners! We’ve been learning about how to protect habitats around us and today went on a litter pick to protect the wildlife in our playground. We also collected some leaves for our artwork next week. What a lovely afternoon!🤩

Super focus and concentration on our m sound work and art task today - fork painting hedgehogs! We have been learning more about animals and their habitats as well as what happens when habitats are not looked after properly. 🦔🍂🍁

Finger Gym in the tuff tray today was a HIT. Working our little fingers hard as we concentrated on the tasks. Building strength in our hands and fingers is really important to support our writing development. 😀 💪
