This morning's student turns out to be a racist. He told me about a client of his who's a Dutchman and has the same accent as me. I said 'He's an immigrant, like me'. He said Yes, a good immigrant. It all went downhill from there. I said I had to change the subject and started a listening exercise.

Well-earned drinks after helping a friend with the house move from hell. They're probably still going but I had to stop, my body couldn't do any more.

Not so much teaching today. I managed to do a lot of resting, walk to Normal to get a new box of mints for the car and do some back exercises. Back still bad, maybe I should try to do them in the morning.

Doing as the locals do. Endimanchez-vous! I'm really getting into my book. The writing style is less good than Norra Latin, but the story is quite cool. Six very different girls from a high school find out they are expected to fulfil an important mission to protect the world from evil.

Municipal Elections. First time I'm doing this cos it's so complicated to get on the electoral roll. Now I understand the elections at school for the Conseil d'Ecole. They work exactly the same way - you don't pick a person, just a list. If there's only 1 list, you pop THE list into THE envelope.

It's happening

Seventeen got a student's cookbook for Xmas. To get him actually cooking we've told him he's cooking a recipe from the cookbook tonight. He hates making choices so he let Eleven pick a recipe. We've bought the ingredients today, and now he's going to have to get out of his funk and into the kitchen.

Seventeen has signed up for Model United Nations through school next week. Of course now he realises he's got two position papers to write and has done virtually nothing to prepare.
