1/ Despite a reasonable difference in size, Cormorants and Shags can be quite difficult to differentiate unless side by side! In this thread ⬇️, we take a look at some of the key differences between adults and juveniles...

My binoculars are Opticron Discovery WP 8x42. I am very pleased with them. I am saving up for my first scope but I feel overwhelmed trying to choose one. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Firecrest still in our back garden, calling all day. We do well for them here as there is still a large area of fir, bay, ivy etc surrounding our garden, while houses around us have mostly chopped all their trees down. Loving those rictal bristles in pic 3

I found this birding book along the side of the road on the Tamiami trail in the Everglades on 8/25/25. It is so well loved with sightings going back decades. If you're a birder (I am not) please spread the word and hep me find the owner so they can be reunited

This isn't just any fox ... it's a fox created out of the remains of a Cornish Red rhododendron tree. Standing 6 metres tall in the Lost Gardens of Heligan, it is made up of 600 pieces of wood, all from a tree that predated WW1 and was blown down during a recent winter storm.

Massive Glossy Ibis arrival reaches Britain and Ireland
A huge Glossy Ibis influx is currently under way across Britain and Ireland, with large flocks appearing across a wide area. The arrival breaks all modern records for the species, which has been rapidly increasing across Western Europe in recent years and bred in Britain for the first time in 2022. On Monday 8 September, a staggering minimum of 605 ibis were recorded across Britain and Ireland.
