We had a great zoom session with the Year 3's of St. George's in Taunton on fossils. They already knew a lot of their stuff but good to get in some prep before they venture down to the beach to look on their own for some fossils! We can't wait to see what you bring in!

It's complete! Enzo the ichthyosaur is now fully on display in the Centre after being discovered just a year ago. A whole lot of work went into this one by Chris and Alex Moore, and Nic Reast and it looks fantastic! #FossilFriday

We had a great fossil walk today! Our group found beef ammonites and belemnites galore, along with pieces of crinoid, cretaceous sponge and shells, and an ichthyosaur bone. This ammonite was Daisy's favourite fossil! We still have spaces on our upcoming fossil walks: charmouth.org/chcc/events-...

We've had a brilliant beach find brought in for us to see this #FossilFriday! This chunk of bone is from an ichthyosaur's jaw and even has a few small teeth sitting in their dental groove!

We've had our annual visit from this year's Portsmouth palaeo students, checking out our displays and finding out about the work we do here on the Jurassic Coast! Even checking out a couple of their fossil finds from a morning wander on the beach!

It's not far away now so make a note of it! A little over a month until our Craft and Fossil Fair, save the date! We'll be joined by a host of local crafts makers and fossil collectors in the village hall on October 25th.

My family and I went fossil hunting at Charmouth with @charmouthhcc.bsky.social on Saturday. My 4 year old was spectacular at finding Ammonites, but I was pleased to spot a ichthyosaur vertebrae right as the tour was ending. Is it the biggest? No. But it's mine. Now, how do I mount it to a wall?

We had a rarer find this #FossilFriday by one of our volunteers Andy Woodhouse. Eagle eyed Andy spotted this chimaera tooth plate on #Charmouth beach. Chimaera are relatives of sharks and rays. We are recording this scientifically important find for the fossil code!

Well the heaven's opened and we even saw some hail out on the beach! The Sun did eventually come out though and there were even a few fossils on the beach too!

A brilliant belemnite find by Henry a couple of days ago on our fossil hunting walk! Normally we find the belemnite guards as loose fragments but we can see this one is whole, from pointed tip to the hollow phragmocone!

A phenomenal end to August with a late walk yesterday! The beach certainly didn't disappoint with loads of finds including a beast of a belemnite, a beautiful pair of mussel shells and possibly one of the smallest finds all Summer with this gastropod!

An incredible Jurassic discovery brought in by Etta Law yesterday! A huge #FossilFriday congratulations on spotting this envy-inducing ichthyosaur vertebra!

A very nice pyrite gastropod spotted by one of our wardens out on the beach yesterday after some of the rough weather Erin had brought in! Remember a lot of our fossils are loose and can be pretty small, so you've got to get down closer to the beach to spot them!

It wasn't just on yesterday's seashore safari that the fish were biting! A big congratulations to Calum Davidson on this find brought up to the Centre to show off, a fantastic fossil fish flank found in a split septarian nodule!

It was our last summer seashore safari and scavenger hunt today! We found gobies, rocklings, sea anemones, velvet swimming crabs, shore crab and edible crabs, chiton, honeycomb worms and so much more! (1/2)

A lovely sea urchin found yesterday on #Charmouth beach. We don’t find these Cretaceous critters very often but one eagled eyed budding palaeontologist spotted its heart and star shaped patterns. Despite the hot calm conditions some great #FossilFind are turning up daily!

We had an amazing seashore safari yesterday with many species not seen so far this year, including scorpion fish and sand eels! We had 4 types of crabs, belemnites, gobies, rockling, prawns, anemones and more!!! (1/2)

A lovely little surprise for our volunteer Jake Dean yesterday when he was breaking open a rock and discovered this tiny ichthyosaur vertebra inside! What will we find on the beach today we wonder??? #FossilFind

We find lots of fossils on our walks but today someone was lucky enough to discover an engagement ring tucked in with an ammonite! Congratulations to the Ballagher family, wishing you a long and happy life fossil hunting together!

A reminder to avoid those cliffs and stay clear of them at all times. There's always the risk of bits coming down at anytime and there are a few unstable looking spots about on the beach. This photo was sent to us from our beaches today so stay cautious.
