"on a technicality" Not really. A failure to get necessary consents to a terror charge is not a slight error. They are safeguards when a person faces a serious charge. Prosecutors should take such safeguards seriously: this is terrorism law they are using.

Why does no one ever advocate for legislation to tackle Oxbridgeās enormous endowments? Under the Endowed Schools Act 1869 schoolsā endowments could be appropriated for the benefit of the whole community. If even the Victorians discerned ways to redistribute institutional wealth, why canāt we?

I am eight years out of my PhD and have never had a permanent contract; I have done good research in spite of my employers and precarious employment. I have recently been made unemployed again. Precarity prevents us even reaching āmid-careerā status because we are denied the stability to get there.

This is the issue. The bulk of excellent and amazing people that make up the ever-increasing academic precariat arenāt early career as we are too far out of PhD. But we also donāt qualify as mid-career as we donāt have open-ended contracts.
