Late-morning thoughts: contingent scheduling, health insurance tied to employment, corporate commercialized housing, and increasing energy prices create a precarious environment for workers. A permanent, ongoing recession will damage American democracy. We're being economically squeezed to death.

so like lemme weigh in on this as someone who is more financially comfortable than many in my generational cohort: everything I have gained seems precarious and temporary because I know the people with real money will take it all from me the second they get an opportunity and no one will protect me.

Early-morning thoughts: if the tension between providing medical care and making a profit off of illness seems problematic to you, consider for-profit prisons. They make money when there are more prisoners - and they lobby politicians to create new crimes and lengthen sentences. This must stop.

Yet more early-morning thoughts: the indictment of Raul Castro depends directly on other countries treating the American justice system and its actions as legitimate. The problem is that Trump is dismantling American influence abroad, and SCOTUS is acting in an increasingly partisan way.

Early-morning thoughts: the Republican numerical advantage in the U.S. Senate is structural. There are western states with fairly low populations and are rural in character. This could be solved by having a sufficient number of progressive people move to those states. Not likely but it would work.
