I think even though I disagree that AI power usage is the number #1 social concern (and is solvable), I think what critics get right and I am happy to see in the discourse is that Cloud Infrastructure and Data Centers are locus of power under our modern form of capitalism

The web and apps are a dead end for anything other than monopoly, winner take-all outcomes unless end users are willing to pay for software. No technical solution, whether it be open source, ATProto or ActivityPub or AI tooling are gonna solve a core economic issue at the heart of it all.

Seeing the ATProto community continue to go full steam into hardcore AI boosting, kneecapping existing community projects while still not having permissioned data / private accounts makes me feel fine that I flaked out

Trying to make art in pico-8 without using too many sprite slots is a fun but challenging puzzle. Choosing what to draw and not based on a larger sprite requires some really clever tradeoffs. #gamedev #pico8 #pixelart
