Your regular reminder that the US air & water pollution laws passed in the 60s & 70s -- and the elaborate federal bureaucracy created to administer them -- constitute one of the most successful gov't interventions in history. WILDLY successful. The envy of the world.

On the bright side of today's astonishing vote at the UN, it is good to see the EU & allies (minus Hungary) standing up against the US and being successful in doing it. It is not something EU countries are likely to be able to do individually, and shows the value of the EU in this rougher world.

The one thing I really wanted to say on live TV tonight: If politicians want to be “muscular”, they should go to the gym. No one needs muscles in politics, it’s not a boxing ring and it should not become one. What one needs is intelligence, strategic thinking & an ability to collaborate.
