Excellent Guardian piece today by Alberto Alemanno on the self-defeating deregulation fever being imposed right now by EU leaders (particularly #Merzoni, implemented by VDL). The problem with the EU is not in Brussels. It is in the national capitals who block completion of the EU single market.

While Europe's centrist leaders in 🇬🇧🇫🇷🇩🇪 have spent the past year appeasing Trump, in past months the far right recognised opposing🇺🇸 plays well with voters. Our cowardly leaders (other than 🇪🇸Sanchez) are ceding the moral high ground to the far right.
