A few visionOS 26 changes unlocked a ton of app ideas I had previous set aside. 🧩 Presentations in attachment greatly expand the possibilities for 2D/3D interfaces. 🚀 Spatial Layouts open new ways to organize and present data. 🔥 Widgets and window snapping enable a level of UI persistence.

The only thing that makes the new widgets and pinned windows appear fake in visionOS 26 is the quality of the video feed. Low light and dim rooms make the perfectly rendered objects stand out as digital objects. Can't wait for future Vision Pros to get more lifelike passthrough.

SharedDuck shows a floating duck on your Vision Pro. If you share it with a nearby user using the share button (opposite the close button underneath the space), they'll see it in exactly the same position in the room. You can both walk around it and treat it like it was a real object in the room.

Ok PSA for folks on the visionOS 26 beta: It may take a while for your photo library to update. In the interim the storage may balloon. It took a couple of restarts for me to finally see Photos offload its storage to iCloud. But probably good to just give it some time! #wwdc25

It's now possible to show entities outside of a volume's scene bounds in visionOS by adjusting the clipping margins. These entities are non-interactive and only work with volumes, but they’re still great for decorative effects. ☁

Asked o3 to improve the performance of one of my immersive views and not only did it one-shot the refactor, it also provided me with the following tables to explain the expected performance benefits. o3 looks very promising for visionOS 👀

Heck yeah. I'll be doing a TestFlight at some point this month, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

People often think of research as validating their best idea. But conceptual research that yields durable insights is always a provocation. For ex, would you want to build a thing yourself so you can control quality & every step or would you be ok w/fast automation w/just good enough quality?

A lot of times I create concepts and prototypes for provocation, to get people to think about something a different way or to push a position to its extreme, or to show trade offs. A provocation can be a new bet. It’s always a new behavioral hypothesis, often a new mental model.

I honestly had huge doubts in March if my focus on visionOS was the right choice, these doubts are gone. I should trust my gut feeling more often! I have this goal of shipping ten apps this year on the Vision Pro and looks like I’ll be able to do it 💪

I appreciate Apple being hard focused on AR glasses but they’d better work on Ray Ban-alikes in the meantime

What I really enjoy is understanding human cognition, evident when users experience a new mental model. When you force trade offs in emergent tech you can see this clearly & you can be philosophical about your approach.
