A film that has really stuck with me from last year? IF I HAD LEGS, I’D KICK YOU. As someone born with developmental disability and know heartache and backaches my mom went through to get to where I am today: the discourse around this movie is just keeps saying why folks think I shouldn’t exist.

What better time to do @bodiesofhorror.bsky.social’s 1st revisit than with the 1992 classic, DR GIGGLES? This film has had a piece of Nichole's heart since childhood when she used it to talk about disability with friends. Now, decades later, the film packs more nuance than even she remembered.

This past week was my birthday and it had me thinking: How do we acknowledge changed ideas on art based on lived experience? Is there a change in expectations of how you approach content at a certain age?

Confession: as someone who likes to have Court TV on the background, I managed to catch (I think) all of the testimony in Alex’s trial and have been following the appeals/corruption drama. True crime can be handled horribly but @jennferatu.bsky.social and @joelipsett.bsky.social are FANTASTIC.

My feelings on FREAKS runs deep and wide. And disability representation ing horror (obviously). So excited for this.

NEW EPISODE DAY! It was a treat and a half to have @theluckysharms.bsky.social and @35thfloor.bsky.social on to talk about this intensely icky, very powerful feature debut by Brandon Cronenberg. I walked away from this film and conversation reaffirming my aversion to “mystery meat.”

There are so many fascinating things happening in this film. Sickfluencers. Commercialization of illness. Work/life balance. LETS GO!

My favorite part of watching cooking completion shows? Contestant 4 will talk about how they’re there to win money to care for an ailing loved one. *silence, maybe a nod* It is ALWAYS and immediately by the judges talking to Contestant 5 that broke their hollandaise sauce. *cue brooding music*

Episode 97 of the pod is out this week and that means: episode 100 is right around the corner. No words, just pure love for anyone and everyone that has encouraged the pod.

Some people are just changing the world. Grateful Access: Horror exists there’s a convening of the most brilliant, earth-shaking folks to talk about horror, disability, and all things access and representation. Thrilled to see @blerdymassacre.bsky.social as part of the proceedings. Gamechangers.

New episode day! Annabelle: Creation is on the table for this episode and I’m focused on the characters of Janice and Esther. Both have disabilities and highlight some of the film’s ableist tropes. But where this film leans on some tropes strongly, there is initiative to subvert others.

This film has it all: Prequel! Polio! Porcelain! I am EXCITED for this episode and dig in to a prequel that begs the question: Do you know what a stairlift is?
