NEW EPISODE DAY! It was a treat and a half to have @theluckysharms.bsky.social and @35thfloor.bsky.social on to talk about this intensely icky, very powerful feature debut by Brandon Cronenberg. I walked away from this film and conversation reaffirming my aversion to “mystery meat.”

There are so many fascinating things happening in this film. Sickfluencers. Commercialization of illness. Work/life balance. LETS GO!

My favorite part of watching cooking completion shows? Contestant 4 will talk about how they’re there to win money to care for an ailing loved one. *silence, maybe a nod* It is ALWAYS and immediately by the judges talking to Contestant 5 that broke their hollandaise sauce. *cue brooding music*

Episode 97 of the pod is out this week and that means: episode 100 is right around the corner. No words, just pure love for anyone and everyone that has encouraged the pod.

New episode day! Annabelle: Creation is on the table for this episode and I’m focused on the characters of Janice and Esther. Both have disabilities and highlight some of the film’s ableist tropes. But where this film leans on some tropes strongly, there is initiative to subvert others.

This film has it all: Prequel! Polio! Porcelain! I am EXCITED for this episode and dig in to a prequel that begs the question: Do you know what a stairlift is?
