Imagine being the person brave enough to leak this in the hopes that media attention could stop it and then the media just……buries it.

A friend of mine who used to be an investigative reporter at a major publication warned me repeatedly to never go to the NYT with a scoop because all they do is trade for access and the fact that they didn’t sound the alarm BEFORE this happened is a great example of trading silence for access

The fatal flaw of neoliberalism has always been its complete lack of any kind of ethos. Once voters realize their politicians will throw them under the bus at the first opportunity, it becomes very hard to mobilize real enthusiasm or popular support.
