Pink Shirt Day usually focuses on “bullying” between students. That harm is real, but it is not the whole story. Black youth and families also face harassment from the systems that are supposed to keep them safe: schools, healthcare, and policing.

Racialized discipline pushes Black students out of classrooms for behaviour that white students are redirected for. Healthcare professionals dismiss Black people’s pain, misgender or deadname patients, and shame disabled and fat Black people instead of offering care.

Police and security are called on Black youth for existing in hallways, waiting rooms, and public spaces. Dignity is a right, not a privilege. Reproductive justice means Black people can learn, get care, and move through the world without being surveilled, punished, or humiliated for who they are.

WTF is right! Why would someone who knows they are sick with COVID (or influenza) go out into public without a mask on? Also, I don’t understand why someone who is medically compromised would be out in public during respiratory viruses season (RSV, flu, etc.).

What enrages me is that I likely will get "pathologized" for following science in a setting where capitalism and healthcare instersect. It's all about narrative, not facts anymore. It's politicized, embedded, and cultural. Ableism IS the culture in Canada.

Poverty is not a moral failure. It’s a policy failure. People living in poverty are often blamed for their reproductive decisions — for having “too many kids,” for seeking abortion, for needing support. 1/2

Reproductive justice isn’t just about the right to choose, it’s about the right to thrive. That means safe housing, liveable income, food security, & healthcare. If people are forced to parent (or not parent) because they’re poor, that’s not freedom. No bodily autonomy without economic autonomy.
