This year has had a lot of bad triggers. I've dealt with creeps & SH, but worse were the manipulators who actively controlled my life. Punished friendships, ripped apart relationships, threatened blacklisting, lied about innocent people who they had personal vendettas against.

I often debate if it's a mistake speaking openly about personal fights. If it's public clients can see it. But I also hid a decade of abuses & struggles that built up to a breakdown & almost "giving up" last year. If talking helps protect someone or helps anyone know they're not alone it's worth it.

I hope you have the strength to speak out a about your abusers. Today's news is another example that a creep never stops. There's always another target, always another victim. I hope you never have to fear watching a predator get away with what they tried to keep in the shadows.

Sometimes I reflect on how I should've taken a hint in toxic professional situations to avoid the Tetris wall of trust issues they became. I once took over a non-VO job for someone who was demoted for abusing his role, and I was still paid less than him after his demotion.

For different people, accountability can take different forms. For me personally, it’s less about what a person does, and more specifically what they don’t. If they refuse to apologize or listen, or if they actively silence their victims legally so they don’t have to? No accountability there.

Don't cheat on a lover Don't manipulate blood Don't cover up abuse when it's inconvenient Don't call someone a friend just to step on their back and climb the ranks And if you make it through this life without facing your actions May you get your justice when you try to cheat the ferryman.

I once had a job that yanked a trainer promotion on Day 1 when I told mgmt that I worked it and moonlit as an actor. I offered flexibility to help ALL shifts, not just 9-5. They asked me how I'd manage both. I said I already did. Don't waste yourself on people who disrespect initiative.

Trying to live again this year put a lot in perspective. No more transactional friendships. No more fear of people who are impossible to please. No more tolerating those who screw with my work & personal life like I'm just a toy. I know who matters in my life. And I'm a performer, not a puppet.

Far too often, what I see get rewarded is selfishness, lack of spine, and blind loyalty to people with clout. The people who are true to their word and their friends & colleagues are rarely acknowledged for doing as much. But please know, it is worth doing and you are a better person for it.
