That being said (I need this said everywhere): If I know one of my tics is active, and likely to harm someone, it's my responsibility to make sure I can tic safely myself AND around others. Casual setting: accommodate one another. Formal setting: intro, exist, respond according to setting.

Certainly they seem closer to & friendlier with each other than, as one would expect if people were more strictly principles-driven than clout-driven or in-group-driven, closer to and more allied with those on "lower tiers" of prominence or marginalization on their own claimed side of the issue/s.

I know many folks are deeply attached to their identities as "good people", which means they can't be harmful. Which means anyone who points out that they've done harm and expects some sort of accountability or acknowledgment is being mean to them. It's exhausting.

Scene: You ask someone not to use ableist language. Instead of accepting that there might be a common form of harm they hadn't previously realized and they've been unintentionally perpetuating it, they get defensive and mean. Because they're a Good Person and Good People don't do harmful things.

IME, folks who think of themselves as "good people" also believe they cannot be harmful, because they are good people. They get extremely defensive when faced with even mild criticism about their actions and attitudes. Because they are good people.
