I once took a buyout of my federal job it was a force reduction, I took it to save a job of someone with less seniority. That was at a time when I could trust the government to follow through. I believe now that I would not trust trump. Bait and switch. Firing the head of the NLRB is a big clue.

There’s no buyout. It’s a deceptive email that attempts to trick people into thinking they’re getting a severance package but in reality it just allows the employee to work from home for 8 months while collecting a paycheck. Trump thinks the federal workforce is as stupid as the general public.

If they reduce your duties and consolidate or move your job you are likely eligible for RIF benefits that greatly exceed what they are offering. If they move your job with you encumbering it, you may receive reduced locality rate affecting your current pay and high-3 for retirement.

I have read the email from OPM. It is not what has been reported. IT IS NOT A BUY OUT. It is an exemption from the partially unenforceable return to the office EO until end of the Fiscal Year. You may have to work every single workday until the end of the FY. No guarantees. All discretionary.

Yeah, this isn't a genuine 'buyout,' it's probably just a way to identify workers who want to take the offer (to continue working remotely until September 30 and then resign), fire them soon after the February 6 deadline, then roll the dice with GOP-stacked federal courts.

A follow-up memo said employees who accept the resignation offer would "promptly" have their duties reassigned or eliminated, and be placed on administrative leave.

NEW: NTEU is also advising against employees accepting the “deferred resignation” sent from the sketchy [email protected] email address.

Reading this email, it's not a severance as NBC said. "I understand my agency will likely make adjustments in response to my resignation including moving, eliminating, consolidating, reassigning my position & tasks, reducing my official duties, and/or placing me on paid leave until my resignation."
