I like to dig into pixel fonts in video games, and one of my nemeses was Cave's later releases. The ones with all the awful pre-rendered graphics. They have beautiful fonts. I finally got into the graphics on these games and I wrote about them. Mushihimesama, Dodonpachi, Ibara, etc.

The Australian social media ban, which started off stupid and got dumber, is even more absurd than I realized. Facebook and Instagram are banned, but Whatsapp is not. Twitch is banned, but Discord is not. Reddit is banned, Snapchat is banned, but LINE and Facebook Messenger are not.

While fiddling with the Aleck64 I finally ordered the parts to hook up the P2 buttons. 25 years ago I bought the panel with half the wires missing. Now I can put it back in storage knowing it will work should I suffer a head injury and want to play it again.

Chrissabug does amazing work, and I absolutely have a weakness for art nouveau frames. That stuff cuts right through me in the most excellent way.

I recently set up Groovy MiSTer, which acts as a display for Groovy MAME running on a PC. It's a brilliant setup that bypasses the PC's laggy video subsystem entirely. It's an easy thing to set up, but I felt an up to date concise (written!) guide might be handy for some people. So I wrote one.

The PC Engine version of this game was so, so good.

Copped a big hit from the storm today. A dozen dents on my car from the hail and so much water came in through the window of my hoise there were wet boxes above my head, and I'm tall. Pools of water on the floor, and on my arcade cabs. Water literally pouring off arcade PCBs when I pick them up.
