I know not everyone has a creative mind, but...what? Ever heard of fandom? Fan theories? FUN??? If a story resonates with you, how do you not fantasize about the what ifs and the after (or heck, maybe even the before that the story didn't explore for one reason or another) and the could've beens?

Others have said this better, but the conversation of tracing over your own references really weeds out who the professionals vs children/gatekeepers/outsiders are. You don't HAVE to trace over your stuff, but to say that you /CANT/ is asinine to the highest degree.
