This is why I find it so disingenuous & hypocritical when govt & law enforcement cite "addressing gender-based violence" as rationale for expansive surveillance powers such as in Bill C-22. It's blatantly pretextual. As shown in how police act in every context where GBV is the issue & not a shield.

Such as when they themselves, you know, perpetrate it, & cover it up, & ignore their colleagues doing it, & punish those trying to speak out against it, & retraumatize victims /survivors brave enough to report it, & let abusers off with no consequences so they can pursue new victims unhindered.
