4 games that defined my 2025

If it wasn't for emulation, I never would have played this masterpiece as it never got a release in Australia. Our official Nintendo magazine (NMS) even reviewed the damn thing and recommend importing it. All I can say is Thanks SNES9X!

Hands down my favourite Beat 'em up of all time! Nothing else comes close to the chaos of this game. I once saved all the ammo I could for the boss in the football armour only to have him survive with a sliver of health, then die to the gun being thrown at him!

Fuck yes! I played the hell out of this with my friends! I eventually bought the Worms: United edition which had so many extra features like soundsets and level editors. I never got into the sequels as much as this one!

Okay. I played this game a lot and it can't just be me... ...was there like 2 second lag between shooting someone and them reacting to getting shot?! If this was just a shooter I wouldn't even remember it, but the spy elements and puzzles were genuinely interesting!

Exactly a year later MegaLag has uploaded part 2 of his investigation into Honey. I was fortunate enough never to come across this app, and his original video was my first exposure to it. It is absolutely fascinating the amount of bullshit going on with this app. The video earns its runtime.

Lesser known but the original release of The Witcher was so bad (bugs, DRM, performance, VAs) that you could buy a collectors edition for 5$ here in Australia. CDPKR later released the enhanced version with a massive free update for OG owners and it was met with universal praise.

In Super Mario World, green berries increase the timer. By strategically eating them to make the timer pass 100 multiple times, the music can be sped up repeatedly. It turns out that the music engine cannot handle more than 20 speed-ups, and slows down to a crawl instead.

Today's OP/ED is Final Fantasy 8 OP! I cannot stress enough how breathtaking this OP was at the time. Remember that Toy Story 2 game out the same year as this if you want a reminder as to what most CGI looked like at the time. And while the graphics may have aged, the music is as great as ever!

Back in day (until the end of cataclysm) I ran a 100% troll guild called <DARKSPEAR BROTHERHOOD> Honestly, we didn't clear any endgame raids until WOTLK but godamn was that a fun and unique experience! I cannot see the game being as hard as it was back then considering the state of it when I left.

I haven't been watching Season 3 of One-Punch Man because to be quite frank I'd had enough by the end of season 2. But my goodness the reviews of this season so far are scathing! Not my art BTW.

I feel the absolute opposite to this. But I'm guessing that's just because of the way I approach achievements. I only go after achievements in games if I really enjoy it and want an excuse to play it more. Achievements that make you play the game in a weird way are my favourites!

Today's OP/ED is Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040 ED! "I'll be waiting for you, I need your love everyday." I loved this haunting ED! This one one of the first anime I saw after I really got into the medium and it still holds up really damn well. If you've never seen it give it a shot.

Today's OP/ED is Berserk (1997) ED! Despite the series ending on one hell of a cliffhanger this is STILL the best anime adaption of Berserk so far and nothing else comes close. If you've never seen this anime and you can handle some REALLY disturbing stuff then this is an absolute must watch IMO.

Today's OP/ED is Sekirei OP2! I've said it before, I'll say it again: This anime is Pokemon, if the Pokemon battling were Waifus. And since a fight can be one by touching the symbol on the opponents back clothes are usually ripped off in the process. Amazing Ecchi anime and I still want a season 3!

Hell yes! I love these games so damn much! This one is great fun and the first in the series to be voiced. John Rhys-Davies is the narrator in this and he absolutely kills it.

Today's OP/ED is My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s OP! Saw a few episodes of this with the missus tonight and this is holding my interest so far! It's also really damn pretty too and uses it's background CG very well without overusing it. Hoping this stays strong.

Today's OP/ED is Path Of Exile 2 OP! This game is free this weekend and it's dripping with atmosphere and style. Honestly, it's pretty amazing how far Path Of Exile has come over the years. If you do give this game a go, make sure you play with WASD movement. Mouse aiming feels so good in this game!
