If you give a programmer a short task they are going to check test coverage. When they check test coverage they will probably notice some tests are missing. When they add the tests they will decide the method could be simpler and refactor it.

Tech track leaders (senior staff, principal, etc) I highly recommend adding office hour times to your calendar and advertising it such that everyone in your org knows they are for everyone. I started a few weeks ago and have had the best conversations.

The setting you want is here under Privacy: "incognito keyboard" which most keyboard software will then respect and not use to record n-grams from what you've typed.

We’ve been watching the Watch Duty team do absolutely *unbelievable* technical work all week (they’re members of our Fast Forward open source program), handling a surge of millions of people trying to see where the fires are in real time. There are still people who do such good on the internet.

My own opinion is that it's good to signal (through words and/or actions) the virtues that you value; that's one of the most important parts of maintaining a healthy community.

Software engineers of the world, I beg you. Stop disabling copy and paste in password fields. Sincerely, Someone with non-human memorable 20+ character passwords generated by a password manager.
