Ok it's time to roll my Adulting check lol. This year, I'm with the "Task Force on Asian Migrant Workers" in a specialist and observer role, and we are seated right in front with the ASEAN Secretariat, the International Labour Organization, the International Organization for Migration, and UN Women.

In Kuala Lumpur for a bit as part of the Task Force on ASEAN Migrant Workers, providing support to regional civil society organisations in facilitating and drafting policy recommendations. Been a while since I did this kinda thing, packed my suit.. I guess I'm sorta? Maybe? An ASEAN delegate? Haha.

What I've been up to; well, or rather, how I've been doing Intense emotional, mental, and physical strain"; I'm slowly coming to terms with near-constant pain and anxiety. on the bright side, I'm taking steps to change the conditions which pile onto my, frankly, quite ridiculous level of stress.

back to school, not to teach, but to study; taking grad diploma in expressive arts therapy on weekends. lecturer is a Vienna-trained psychotherapist, so I feel safe enough to talk about my affective work with RPGs! Also bumped into my philo and soci students from last year, who're happy to see me?!

Sorry, been out of the loop a bit. Poor health, impelled by taxing teaching and grading schedules (that eat into my other work). Gig worker, paid per hour, but work is never just for the hour. There's never enough time to grade, and few schools want to pay for the work of grading. Beyond that..

Observation: a major reason I'm burned out from teaching work lately isn't poor pay, unpaid labour, bad infrastructure, or incompetent management.. All those suck, but a thing that really stings, especially as a neurodiverse teacher.. Many students (from a particular school, alas) treat me poorly.

Been really exhausted recently (school work is a mess). something gotta change cos so many schools are crushing me into dust. turning 45; can't get fulltime teaching jobs cos no doctorate. Will apply for PhD this year; even if I'm 50 by the time I get out, let's go. Not just for career, nor passion.

@noizangel.bsky.social is a terrible (great) influence in that today I've found myself looking at some scholarly citations for a digital symposium. I've submitted my proposal, and yes, it'll be a preview of this article. 🧵 for some lapsed academic chatter and feelings.

Was ill yesterday so I couldn’t finish reading Lost Omens: Rival Academies, but I’m impressed by how well the in-character writing works for the book in exploring both NPC histories and their views of their own institutions and others. Another banger!

NDAlifted for Pathfinder 2e's latest Lost Omens book; it's available now! Enjoyed working on "Rival Academies"; fellow freelancers had cool ideas which inspired me during creative process, and the developers helpfully refined my designs. I primarily worked on the chapter with the Unbreaking Waves!

Realis is (really) proving to be a blast so far!
