Tokyo central finally opened in Emeryville and it’s so much better than I ever imagined. Packed to the gills with fresh fruits, veggies, and meats. Endless snacks and Asian staples. Mouth watering prepared foods. Best of all everything is very reasonably priced. I feel so lucky to live next door.

The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.

The deputy White House chief of staff, Stephen Miller, called Pretti a “domestic terrorist” and an “assassin.” In fact, Pretti was a registered nurse working in intensive care at a Department of Veterans Affairs hospital. This is who he really was.

Alex Jeffrey Pretti was an ICU nurse at a VA hospital. His life, through his profession, was dedicated to serving his community and our country. As so many have now seen on video, his final act before he was killed by federal agents was doing everything in his power to protect his community.
